How clients opt in to SMS
Last updated 17 August 2026
This page documents, for carrier and campaign review, exactly how a 22labs client consents to receive SMS notifications — and how they decline without losing anything.
In one line. SMS is an optional extra offered during onboarding, after a client has already signed up. It is presented on its own screen, the box is unchecked, and a client who leaves it unchecked receives the identical service with notifications by email.
Who receives messages
Only our own business clients — the owner of a business that has engaged us to operate an AI voice agent on their phone line. Messages tell that owner about activity on their own account: a missed call, the caller's details, a booked appointment. We do not send marketing messages, and we do not message members of the public, website visitors, or our clients' customers under this campaign.
The opt-in flow, step by step
The client signs up
A business owner contacts us, agrees to the service, and signs our AI Voice Agent Services Agreement. Nothing in that agreement opts them in to SMS, and signing it is not consent to receive messages. Section 4.5 of the agreement states this explicitly.
Onboarding form — a separate, optional question
After signing, the client completes an onboarding form to configure their agent. One question, presented on its own and separate from any required terms, offers SMS notifications. The checkbox is unchecked by default and the form submits normally whether or not it is ticked.
As it appears on the onboarding form
Consent is not a condition of purchase or of using our service — leave this unchecked and we'll email you instead. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. See our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
Either choice completes onboarding
Confirmation and opting out
A client who opts in receives one confirmation message:
22labs: You're now opted in to call and booking alerts. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.
Replying STOP to any message ends them immediately and permanently, with one confirmation and nothing after. Replying HELP returns our contact details. A client can also email hello@22labs.app. Opting out never affects the service, its price, or any other term. A client who later texts START is re-subscribed.
